A Design Christmas

Can you believe it’s only 34 days till Christmas? I can’t be the only one who’s a bit shocked that Christmas is only a little over a month away. And I haven’t even mentioned the new year is getting so close as well! But, it is getting very close and I thought today would be a great day to start getting in that Christmas spirit and share some festive items on the blog. Are you ready?

Today I wanted to start the festive season by selecting my top 5 gifts to give or receive this Christmas. I am all for responsible buying so this post will be more about timeless pieces great for fall & winter overall, instead of just focusing on Christmas items. Because it’s not only Christmas, it’s simply the season to snuggle under a blanket, light some candles and eat warming dishes. The items that I’ve selected might be a bit more of an investment, but I truly believe in buying items for the long run, that you’ll enjoy year after year. Are you ready for my favorites? Here we go!

First up is this Mirage plaid by Ferm Living. I move it all around the house; on the bed as seen in the photo above, but I also love it draped over our couch or a chair. It’s a great blanket to snuggle under and I feel it adds a lot of texture to any room with it’s beautiful colors and pattern. It’s one of my favorite items from last year for sure!

Any designlover would be incredibly happy with this as a present: the House Bird by Eames for Vitra. I’ve had this one for several years now and it’s still a big favorite. Ours has a few defects after it took a few stumbles so I’m eyeing that special edition walnut version but, the black for sure is a classic!

A Christmas/winter wishlist is not complete without a chandelier. It’s the time of the year for candles, and this Ferm Living Circle I love. It would make a great advent calendar too! And a little bonus: I saw a beautiful image online with this chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Just a tip I wanted to share!

If anything, this season is for drinking lots of tea, so a new mug would be very fitting. I love this Marbled series by HAY, and how each one of them is different. This series features a great deal of products, so if you want to spoil yourself, there is also a matching teapot (as seen above), a beautiful water jug and bowl. A great statement for any Christmas dinner.

In the end a Christmas wishlist wouldn’t be complete without Christmas ornaments, am I right? I love these by Ferm Living, and these would work beautifully outside of Christmas as well, in a branch or simply taped to the wall. They are designed by Leise Dich Abrahamsen and if you click this link, you can see more of his beautiful designs.

If you haven’t gotten enough ideas for Christmas gifts, make sure to check out this inspiration page of MisterDesign. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Love, Marrit
