Yesterday was my birthday, that I didn’t really celebrate because of well, you know. I did however get a lovely birthday gift from my husband that I wanted to show on the blog today! Last weekend we were in Munich, visiting my brother and sister in law, who live there. We had such a nice time there, visiting the beautiful city Munich is, and spend time with my family.
On Friday morning we visited the city centre and I spotted a Yellow Korner there. If you don’t know Yellow Korner, it’s basically an art gallery dedicated to photographers. Obviously, I love this concept! I’ve been to one in Amsterdam and was so overwhelmed with all the beautiful photos I couldn’t choose which one to buy. It was still on my list, though. So I gathered new inspiration on that Friday we visited the city centre and decided I was going to buy something there, only in the meantime my husband decided this would be a great birthday gift to give me. And he was right!

So like I said, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by all the beautiful photos in the store, but eventually I chose “Pink Umbrellas” by Jorge de la Torriente. I love the slightly off symmetry, the colors, and the stories you can make up from taking a closer look.
At first I put it on our fireplace, but later realized that it would look really good in our kitchen so I moved it.

I always prefer a bit of contrast for my interior, so I feel it looks better on the brick wall. And I love art in the kitchen! Because why not?
So thank you husband for this beautiful art, and I will be visiting Yellow Korner again and see their collection, for sure. If you’re into photography, it’s a great place to check out!
Love, Marrit
