The perfect table setting

If you know me personally, you know I love being a host of dinner parties. Having my table filled with food and our loved ones, makes me the happiest person in the world. I thought it would be a perfect timing to show you my latest table setting on the blog for a “Sinterklaas” dinner I hosted last week. Oh I also have a new chair to share :)

My perfect table setting is a combination of neat and messy. And I hear you thinking; how can something be neat and messy at the same time? Well, it’s usually because I like straight lines and neat combinations, but I do combine several colors and tableware with each other. 3 different plates combined, all in different colors. When it comes to setting the table I always find that stacking plates makes it look fancy instantly. This time I combined it with our beautiful glassware, that makes it look very chic. I also have some colored glasses that would work, but in this case I felt that would be too much colorful and I wanted it to feel more “grown up”.

So I started off with plates, cutlery and glasses and then I worked my way into the middle. I picked all the bowls I had in different shapes, colors and sizes and spread them around the table. After that I added some accessories in the shape of candle holders to add some final deco.

So, I already mentioned a new chair. With our living room now featuring the gorgeous “Studio Green” I felt there was missing a dark element in our dining area. So here is our perfect addition; the Soft Edge 10 chair by brand I love HAY. It’s available in wood and plastic and because I was eyeing the black one, I felt plastic would work just fine. I’m loving it very much, the minimalistic design and it fits this area so well! It works great with the FLOS 265 wall light and as I said now matches the dark livingroom better.

Chairs are still my favorite items to shop for, with lighting as a close second. HAY will always be a favorite as their Scandinavian style suits our style so well. There is a certain minimalism in their design and the use of colors is just the way I like it.

So, a little background story on how I set my table. With this month being December I’m hoping for loads of dinners at our house! We already have a few planned. My table setting is never exactly the same, it also depends on the type of food of course. But, this setting on the blog is a very good base that I keep coming back to. Hope you liked it!

Thank you for reading!

Love, Marrit
