Attic update

We call our 2nd floor usually our attic but it’s actually a bit more than that. It’s a complete floor with a landing and two separate rooms. On one hand we’re incredibly happy with this space, but sometimes it can also be a bit of a troublemaker. It basically means that we have the space for a lot of interior items and you can imagine that when I started my vintage shop, things kinda went downhill after that.

Having a vintage shop that sells interior stuff, as well as clothing and kids items, you can imagine you need quite the storage space for it. I started using the biggest room of the 2 of our 2nd floor, but in hindsight this wasn’t my best idea. This room used to be a beautiful room, completely decorated – a second living room you could say. We really loved this room, but because of all the mess this room has gotten more annoying to be in, then relaxing.

Long story short it means that we decided to redo this room again, to have an nice space for all our interior items. We will move the storage of my shop to the smaller room, so we can reclaim this room. As you can see above, we started with this corner and I’m so pleased with the result. Let me show and tell you more!

The frames were already here, but we adding this wall light by dutch brand Dutchbone. I love the design and the cosiness it adds to this nook. It immediately turns into a nice reading corner anyone would be happy to read a book in.

Years ago I would’ve chosen the black version, but now I got so excited seeing this green/blue version and it looks amazing next to the pink wall. I am such a sucker for lighting objects, for years chairs were my number 1 if I bought something new, but in recent years I have come to love lamps and I’m not letting go of it anytime soon. Next to being able to enjoy a beautiful design, a good lighting plan for your house is so important when it comes to making a house a home.

Like I mentioned the frames were already here, and this combination of soft tones makes me really happy.

So we’ve begun! Reclaiming this beautiful room instead of just being storage – it’s way too beautiful for that. Hope you liked reading this post, and will follow along for more attic updates in the coming weeks as we’re redecorating the whole room!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Love, Marrit
