We’ve been looking for something new above the couch for a very long time, but weren’t sure what it should be. We were leaning towards an art piece the most, but hey, which artist, what colors.. Oof the choices! Especially the color part was hard for me, as I do want to keep my freedom painting the wall behind it every color I feel like.
But the funny thing with wanting something but you’re not sure what yet, is that you do know what you want, when you see it. This happened for us when we visited the Flinders showroom, and then I saw her. This piece of art, in a big size, and I knew; that’s it. Luckily for me, my husband loved it immediately as well and as soon as we got home, we found out everything about it and found this “Queen of Clubs” HERE.
This is the (iPhone) photo I posted on Instagram and made me love this piece:
This is a piece by Werk aan de Muur, and while they offer an amazing selection and while I could basically buy their whole collection – this one stood out to us so much.
I love how it’s such a statement piece, but somehow it also blends in perfectly. If you’re a follower of this blog, you know I am all for big statement pieces, and this for sure is it!
Our new daybed was coincidentally also a great match. And while I sometimes felt our grey couch can be a bit dull, it totally works with this Queen of Clubs hanging above it. Combined with some colorful pillows, it’s anything but dull!
As you can see in this photo above, the texture is amazing. We chose the Aluminium Dibond material because of it’s matte finish, the wonderful surprise to us was the “floating” effect on the wall. Because it hangs a few cm’s from the wall, it creates this beautiful effect. I am all for depth and this is a great example of how well this works for art. You can see this effect best on the photo below. See what I mean?
So as you can imagine, we are madly in love with our “Mevrouw Plastic” as our daughter calls her, haha. Curious to hear what you think, let me know! Follow me on Instagram HERE and let me know ♥
Thank you for reading and have a great day!
Love, Marrit
PS. This post is part of a collaboration with Werk aan de Muur after I loved their art at the Flinders store. I only work with brands I love.
