Hallway makeover

There was a time where I was afraid of color on the walls. If you look at our house now, you can’t imagine it anymore but really, we used to be like that. In our defense: we tried colored walls a few times and somehow always failed miserably and I’m sure that didn’t help. But when we renovated our 2nd floor we decided to give color another try and I can’t think of having white walls anymore. A dark green attic, a blue bedroom and a pink and greenlivingroom, we’re loving it all. So, today I need to show you the makeover of our hallway! When we moved into our house we didn’t want an all-white hallway, and since color was not an option we painted it black. And while it was nice, now that we’ve embraced colored walls, our hallway needed an update. So, we used the new Pure & Original colors for Spring/Summer 2019 and I am loving it.

Coincidentally, the wall color is almost the same as our daughters new bike from Veloretti! Such a cool coincidence ♥

The wall color is Chalky Coral by Pure & Original and it screams summer, and it’s such a joyful color. The rattan drawer is vintage and stores our shoes. A very practical choice, and I love the soft contrast between both colors. Our house is built in 1931 and I still enjoy the authentic details such as our round front door and stained glass. So pretty, right?

So this was before:

And this is after:

Nothing wrong with the classic look of black & white, but this colorful image fits our current style much better. And it lights up your mood when entering the house! I doubted between painting the whole wall instead of this bottom half, but I do feel panelling fits the mood of our old house. I do now have the wish to paint our stairs, but I’m not sure which color would fit this scheme. I’m leaning towards dark colors such as dark green, because it might be a little too white altogether for my liking now. But I need to think about that decision some more. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks for reading!

Love, Marrit
